Oil Filter
An oil filter is a crucial component in the lubrication system of internal combustion engines. Its primary function is to remove impurities and contaminants from the engine oil, ensuring that only clean oil circulates through the engine. This helps to protect the engine components from wear and damage caused by particles such as dirt, metal fragments, and sludge.
The oil filter typically consists of a cylindrical housing with an inlet and outlet for oil flow. Inside the housing, a filter media, often made of a combination of synthetic fibers and cellulose, captures and retains particles as the oil passes through. Some filters also incorporate anti-drain back valves to prevent oil from draining out of the filter when the engine is not running, ensuring immediate lubrication upon startup.
Regularly replacing the oil filter during routine maintenance is essential to maintain the efficiency of the lubrication system and extend the life of the engine.
